Averse Sefira - Advent Parallax

Averse Sefira - Advent Parallax

Candlelight Records
The American black metal band Averse Sefira has been around for over a decade. They have the typical BM corpse paint and monikers such as Sanguine Mapsama (vocals, guitars), Wrath Sathariel Diabolus (Bass) and The Carcass (drums). They have become one of the leaders of the American black metal scene.

Advent Parallax is Averse Sefira's fourth full-length CD, and they are now on a larger label, Candlelight Records, which will increase their exposure. Averse Sefira plays frantic black metal with a wall of guitars and frenzied blast beats. Their songs are lengthy, all of them over 5 minutes, but they avoid monotony with frequent tempo changes and very engaging guitar work.

Averse Sefira have a lot in common with their Scandinavian brethren in their icy, atmospheric yet melodic music. And on Advent Parallax, the Texas band adds in some death metal influences, making this an extreme and extremely good CD.

(released February 12, 2008 on Candlelight Records)
